This past Friday, January 28th, the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City had its 8th Annual ArtsKC Awards Luncheon. This luncheon celebrated exemplary leadership in the arts by presenting five businesses and two individuals with awards. These include: pARTnership Award Honoree, The Sprint Foundation, ArtsKC Fund Award Honorees, BlueCross BlueShield of Kansas City, Kansas City Area Development Council, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, and Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP, and Virtuoso Award Honorees, Brian Williams and Steve Metzler.
Held at Starlight Theatre, the ArtsKC Awards Luncheon featured the work of visual artist, Nicole Emanuel, whose concept of the balancing act between life and work inspired a circus/carnival theme at the event. Guests enjoyed fire-breathers, jugglers, and live performances by the Kansas City Ballet, Paul Mesner Puppets, Luna Breeze Performance Art, and Voler: Thieves of Flight. This year’s luncheon also served as the kickoff for our 5th ArtsKC Fund Campaign. The ArtsKC Fund provides grants to arts organizations and artists in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. This year our goal is to raise $440,000 through our Workplace Giving Campaigns, corporate and individual giving.
