Artists Profile: Teacher Enjoys Creating Abstracts
Artist name: Michael Molick, originally from Chicago; currently residing in Kansas City, Mo.
Occupation: I am an artist who is also working as a special education teacher
Main art form: Oil on canvas
“In my abstracts, I explore the medium through color choice and color fields, blending them, expanding boundaries, and being more gestural. The colors are worked until they are released from the canvas, creating a unique work,” he says.
Goals: I want to make art that my patrons would enjoy having in their homes. I would like to have a combination studio/gallery space in the Kansas City area that caters to the arts and cultural events. Being able to travel and create my art from different vantage points would be an exceptional opportunity.
As an artist at the Arts Incubator, 115 W. 18th St., Molick’s art is on display during the First Fridays events in September and October.
