Chari Peak, Kansas City, Mo., knows
how to take a hodgepodge of discovered items, create a vision
and form art called assemblage. Peak stays true to herself and
the human form, for the most part. However, it is not uncommon
to see old coffee pots and old funnels as part of that form.

“I wake up thinking about a being to sculpt and then it all seems to come together.”
Peak creates original ceramic and clay faces.
“I have been a full-time artist since 2000,” she says. “I am a retired dental
hygienist who decided it was time. I knew I needed to see what I could do.”
Peak has no formal art education, but knows what she likes. “I use a lot of vintage
finds. I guess I would call my art whimsical,” she says. She shows her painted
furniture, fanciful doll designs and jewelry creations. “I hope folks that see
my work smile,” she says.
